Trend File # 005 | Destroyed Denim: Is It Really Worth The Splurge?
Like any tabloid reading junkie, I must confess that I stand in the aisle of my local Duane Reade drug store flipping through magazines only to scratch my head in the end. Wondering why some folks actually feel the need to pay high prices for ripped/destroyed styled denim. Whether it be shorts, skirts, or regular length jeans – it all comes down to one main thing! THE LABEL! And for what? What can even be more bothersome is the recommendations given by some high-profiled celebrity style experts. who kill me with their seasonal mantra of “THESE ARE TO DIE FOR” or better yet “THESE ARE MUST BUY”. Says who? Come on, with the recession putting the “Kung Fu Grip” on our wallets, there are so women who feel the need to work with the trend no matter the price value. Realistically, all it takes is a little patience with a pair scissors, along with a trip to your local thrift store to achieve the look seen on many of our favorite celebrities. uhh yeah i do agree, i luuuv distressing my own jeans.Since meadham kirchoff’s are chiffon lined tough ( i’m sucha geek) i could somewhat understand the price tag( these guys are onanother level with denim) Nonetheless the trendy overpriced ‘destroyed’denim is really getting out of hand,especially if we realize that by fall the trend will prolly be gone…
