Ahhh…the spring time! Isn’t it lovely? And while NYC has yet to fully warm up, everyone including myself has been scrambling around to prepare their taxes (which I still have yet to do). And while receipts are stacked up on my desk, so are the magazines purchased from my local newsstand. It’s evident that great fashion minds think alike…thus creating that flurry of clone like styles throughout the streets of your city. But there is an old time trend that is making it’s annual comeback this spring…thanks to one of my favorite accessories…the suspender! Now if you are thinking that suspenders are just not for you, then you may want to rethink it….just for a moment! I can tell you that I only own three pairs of suspenders, two of which I found at a local swap shop for only $1 a piece. And the third recent pair cost me $16….YES! What a far jump from the dollar pairs that I already own. Thanks to a recent American Apparel trip on Tuesday….in the midst of talking on the phone and taking my first hit of Starbucks coffee (in a month) – I couldn’t resist to slap down my plastic on the counter. And while the nice sales associate rang up my purchase, the receptors in my brain triggered off that little voice in my head, asking “Is it really worth the $16 dollars?” But as soon as I had seen that lovely freshly printed white receipt, that little voice in my head went away. The idea of owning a pair of suspenders, is just as important as owning a belt. Versatile and available in a series of colorways there is absolutely no going wrong in giving the look a test run for the spring & summer.
