Trend File #011 | Shaved Or To Be Shaved – Cassie’s New Cut – DO WE LOVE IT?
Alright so this weekend I was frantic running around my apartment trying to prepare for my taxes…when my blackberry buzzed off of the hook thanks in part to R&B singer Cassie’s new do. She reported via her twitter page:
- Sometimes in life, you need a change.
- Something deeper than what you thought you were capable of.
- Something that displays the “I don’t give a fuck” attitude that was always present, but never showcased.
- …& something that will shock your mother, but make her call you a ROCK STAR….
- They ask why?? Lol… B/C I WOKE UP AND FELT LIKE IT!!! YEEEAHHH!!! LOL

But really are we shocked? Seeing as though that this look has already been done before. Especially by those who can actually pull off this specific look. Hence…J*Davey, French stylist/photographer Kristina Girsors, and many other non conforming trendsetting individuals. I on the other hand maintain a buzzed hair cut…simply because I am lazy! I’ll put it out there…ha! But I can’t help but to think that Cassie’s drastic turn of follicle events have arrived do to sheer boredom. Or perhaps much needed attention? Whatever the case is…who ever her barber might have been…or even if she did it herself – this look should have been much better than what these images show. I’m sorry, but I don’t think that this look fits Cassie! Straight up! I honestly think that this was an attempt of trying to stand out just a little bit “TOO HARD” . What do you ladies think? Are we feeling it…or should she try..try..again?

I like it on Cassie, but she did not think to stylize the long side. If she works on that, then maybe it will work. Right now it just looks like she was in a car accident (God forbid). She can still keep it long, but opt for better layering than the girl next door hair.
Yeah….maybe that’s it…it has NO HOOK UP! No real style…it just looks BLAH!
Quite frankly, she has an album that’s supposed to come out. She’s trying to get publicity. I agree; the look does not suit her at all. And the sudden “SO WHAT, I DONT GIVE A F*CK, I DO WHAT I WANNA DO” attitude she has turns me OFF. I used to love me some Cassie and considered her my main style icon. Now, not so much. Not because she took a chance but because she’s doing it for attention; not because she felt a genuine need to change up her look.
I like it on J*Davey, Cassie’s gotta work it out some more, right she kinda looks like the victim of a practical joke
i think it takes a certain personality and look to pull a haircut off like this. all the women in the above picture and even yourself Tee have haircuts that actually fit you. I agree with the fact that she did this to prove she was hard and get some attention, and I also believe she must be board with her career/life because the public sure is. I think she could have done something a little different, maybe just cut all her hair instead of having the buzz cut on the side and that be all. Her hair looks undone, and it doesn’t fit her at all…
Amazing! I love the juxtaposition of her beautiful face and luscious long hair against the punk rock shaved side.

with a little more effort in styling and a proper shave, it could have been cute. but because she feels that she has to prove that “she doesn’t care”, she looks stupid.
at first i was like “oh cool cassie’s not as boring as she looks” Which i still stand by, i mean fair play to her not many people would even attempt something as drastic as this, but i don’t think it looks right like if you look at alice dellal or the girls above. It fits them whereas on cassie it looks wrong. I don’t think it was carefully thought out.

so she shaved off one side… now she should shave the other. cassie is beautiful and can definitely pull off the shaved look.. that way you can see her true beauty but she’s got the rockstar mentality this proves if you feel like doing something.. go for it and dont think or care about what anyone else thinks.. kudos to cassie <3
I love Cassie…she is beautiful…but that hair still is URKING me! Should might as well went bald! And she would have looked FABULOUS! I am always wanting women to shave their heads…lol
