Trend Files # 022 | Bust-Up Red Carpet Arrivals: Costume Institute Gala Benefit

Rihanna Costume Institute Gala

If there is one thing that I can NOT stand is watching celebrities – (who obviously have the stash cash to spend good money on clothes ) opt for very questionable ensembles. Adding insult to sheer injury of the eyes…these are the same celebrities who have the audacity of walking the red carpet as though they are the fiercest of them all. Oh, I would love to blame the celebrities alone. But I’d love to be the first blogger, to drop kicking every stylist responsible for letting their clients walk a fool in front of paparazzi…just for the sake of throwing out a designers name in vain. You ladies know what I mean! We hear the same nonsense on Access Hollywood; “ This is made by……” – who really gives a flying leap as to who created that tantalizingly nauseating heap of fabric bundled up on your ass. And who cares if your platform shoes were hand stitched and stacked on five inches of nothingness….and who in the world sat there and told you that you actually looked good? I could go on for days…ranting and raving about the same foolishness, but it wouldn’t really matter anyway….right? Exactly!!! We can kick off our Tuesday morning knowing damn well that our favorite godmother – Anna Wintour had a laugh or two…behind that stiff grin of hers. Andre Leon Tally obviously realized that the recession exists & everyone at Vogue can stop fronting…because he managed to wear the same ballet-styled flats during February’s Fashion Week….and now to the Costume Institute Gala Benefit. Yes, and as usual he left the socks at home….and toted along his blacula styled cape…or poncho…or whatever the hell that was plastered to his back. Then comes Madonna, who obviously is having a mid life crisis.

I thought that she battled that issue with her series of plastic surgery procedures. Perhaps I was wrong! Her majesty showed and proved that she is indeed the queen of “POP”…pop…..goes the throw-back scrunchy that sits on top of her bun, and is painfully etched on my brain like that damn Soulja Boy “Turn My Swag On” song. Then comes my favorite Trend Doll of all – Rihanna…who’s stylist needs to be slammed down for having our Caribbean princess come out like a side-way circus act. Thank god Rihanna brought back the sexy short hair cut we love….but wait! what happen to the touch-up? I am still waiting to see a perm glide through that hair…way pass that blonde streaked weave. Sweet mother of macaroni & cheese- I am urked…to the point of no return! But that is enough of me being mean on this Tuesday morning….check out why I am actually mad at the outfits that hit the red carpet of lastnight’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit here in NYC….after the jump of course!

PS: I just added some more images of other interesting garbs featured at lastnights gala…be sure to check it out!
