Trend Files #023 | Prom Queen Diaries – PROM 2009

The month of May kick starts the excitement before the month of June. Where many highschool students prepare themselves for that one night of fun. Where those Molly Ringwald movies ring a familiar tone….minus the big hair and over the top DIY pink dress that unbelievably wasn’t so bad – now that I think about it! OMG…can you hear that sound? It’s the Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark playing in the background….(listen here). Ah hem…sorry that was my ADHD kicking in on over drive! I don’t know if all of you have attended your proms….but I didn’t! It’s a long story as to why I didn’t attend! But I will be the first to say that I didn’t enjoy my high school experience at all! And yes, that is entirely a whole different subject at hand. But, do wish that I had attended my prom. As far back as I can remember, I used to anticipate the idea of going to my prom when I was nine years old. I was so much in a rush to grow up! Now I feel like going back to 1989. Let’s face it…prom season is a task all by itself. Quadrupled tiered bubbled dress make my eyes roll. Super unflattering colors of “creamy of vomit mint” green, “kick me dead” maroon, and “already been chewed” bubble gum pink dresses should be BANNED! And if I see another tiara placed on the heads of teenagers.. I might scream! Either way, I love seeing younger fashionista’s gush with delight, while in preparation for their upcoming prom day. There is no doubt that I will obsesses over the day when I become a parent….why? Because, my future spawn with have a memorable prom day…filled with me annoying the living sin out of them! As you already know…some parents actually dread this day. For the mere fact that some of their teenage daughters gravitate towards some of the markets most scandalous dresses. Then again can you blame them? Anyway, I scoured the web for some of most interesting and yet stylish looks available for PROM 2009….and have come up with a pretty decent collection of looks to choose from. Check out some of my picks after the jump!
By the way….is it me…or is the market really lacking in the prom dress department? Like seriously?! I think that I looked over a thousand plus dresses…and still don’t have a clue as to why in the world some designers think that what they’ve created – would be fitting… even for teenagers…EEK!

tee i never went to my prom either. omg and i live in nyc and on fashion ave they have spots that sell ugly ass prom dresses. i mean butt freaking ugly with startling high price tags.
I like the choices that you picked out and the prices aren’t bad. I remember this one girl at my prom had some asymmetrical stripper dress on and it had Flames on the front and back and she had the Clear stripper platform shoes to match. She kept telling everyone that she made it and it cost x amount of dollars but I know she got that dress from a stripper costume shop. lol
See now that is just plain NASTY! Everyone is in a rush to grow up! Granted in the grand scheme of things…teenagers graduating are on the brink of adulthood…but geez slow down! You know what I mean? And the prom dress selections are either broke down beauty queen….or let me see your twork that thang….thus leaving us wondering who is going to actually create a SENSIBLE line up of prom gear for the teenie boppers. (shaking my head).
love the blue Tee. but u just reminded me how old i am…DAMN! lol
LMAO…I know right! I must be broke down old…if I am going back into the crates with Prom flashbacks…GEEZ!
