Trend Files #036 | A Closer Look At Black Comme des Garçons
There is no denying the Rei Kawakubo is a pioneer of fashion. Breaking the boundaries of what we would like to call fashion, she has managed to shut down her nay sayers…and keep her house name in tact for decades. While managing to shut down H&M stores in 2008 with her collaboration with the Swedish clothing giant, Rei also can add her works with Louis Vuitton to her portfolio. Let’s fast forward into 2009, where the Comme des Garçons brand will go into the “black”….Black Come des Garçons that is. The new line is said to be distinctive, stylish, and affordable. The Black Comme des Garçons concept store (which is said to open sometime this month) , will be launching in Japan’s Anoyama neighborhood. And will be open for approximately two months. Folks have been wondering what to expect from the Black Comme des Garçons brand….and I will tell you this! It’s pretty much everything that you’ve all seen before. i really dont see the big deal in comme des garcons. even when the H&M collection came and blew by everyone was still talking about it! its the same boring collection after the next. and this black collection is super boring!

Yeah, I must say that I wasn’t the least bit impressed with what I’ve seen from the Black Comme des Garcons collection. Then again there must be some good key pieces lurking that we have yet to see.
