In comparison to 2008 up until now Rihanna’s style has transformed itself into somewhat of a daily spectacle. Everyone is watching by the computer screens just to see what she’ll wear next. Only if we could be a fly in her closet – we’re quite sure Rihanna has an abundant of high-end selections that will make only the most devout fashion enthusiast go into a spiritual trance. Her most highlighted moments came during the summer of 2009, where she was spotted wearing Rodartes highly priced $970 leggings. Costing Rihanna , to receive some backlash from some of her most favorite critics. Some said that Rihanna was on the road of “trying to hard”. I too felt that need to add in my two cents into the mix. But the summer definitely belonged to the Barbados-born Rihanna, because she took chances on this year’s most talked about …
If you thought 2009 was pretty slow on the fashion forefront, you were probably right! That was until the month of October when Alexander McQueen took his spring 2010 collection to a whole different galaxy. Towering super galactic hairstyles, digitally printed dresses, and shoes that looked like something out of the movie Total Recall came floating down the runway. There were mixed reviews on the entire collection, but there was a common focus that many had to debate on…..and it had to do with McQueen’s dynamic on women’s feet. When you think about the spring months, you totally envision seeing conservatively flat shoes or a heel at stacked at a decent height….at a maximum of at least 5” inches. But who needs a mere five inches when you can go even higher. McQueens theory put the hex on us, so much so that three …
Happy Holidays everyone! I’ve decided to work through the holiday season….well because I have a lot of catching up to do! So if you so happen to be taking a break from your holiday festivities to scan through my series of 2009 Trend Flashbacks – thank you very much – xo! Alrighty so let’s kick into over drive to scan back at some of 2009’s most interesting Trend Flashbacks! And Lady Gaga is at the top of the list for many. Gaga (whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – age 23) hit the scene on a serious note, selling over 20 million digital singles and over four million in album sales. That’s a lot to hold under one couture studded belt. Aside from belting out high adrenaline dance tunes such as Poke Face, Gaga has set the scene for some of today’s most interesting trends that …
OK! Let’s rewind to about February of this year….when Kanye West was spotted working the scene during New York fashion week in hand with a tall statuesque -head shaven Amber Rose. The internet went crazy looking to find out more about the buxom beauty. I know for a mere fact that I spend hours googling as much info about her only to see pictorials of Rose in Smooth magazine. The Philly native is no stranger on getting noticed. She’s managed to become an overnight celebrity, thanks to Kanye West of course (before his epic fail MTV Video Music Awards stunt). Through the wire and back, Amber has set sail in the realm of high society – being featured in Elle magazine, inking a deal with Ford Models, and now she works the scene headlining various parties throughout the country. Aside from gaining a following of admirers …
As I was sitting down watching television, I just reminded myself that the year is basically over! And this is usually the time of year where I have to dig deep to remember both the highs and lows that have made my year complete. I’ve been keeping a list of notable 2009 trends that have made constant headlines. One of my favorite trends of 2009 have raised a few eye brows, the Harem pant has been under fire by many critics. Some of whom really never even went as far as trying this trend out in the first place…but automatically dismissing a very interesting look. Granted, there were women who felt that this trend was more suitable for slender body types. Being as though I am a woman of curves , and thanks to many of my fashionable friends for sending me samples from their collections – I’ve realized …
