Trend Files# 039 | Alexander McQueen Pelle Leather Sandal Trend Files# 039 | Alexander McQueen Pelle Leather Sandal

There are those rare moments (especially given the current financial state), where you see something that totally captivates your senses. Whether it be cosmetics…straight  back to the common day fashionable accessory, where if you had it – you’d go all out and slap down a grip (plus the shake of the hip) on a pair of shoes. Yes..yes..I know the year of the splurge has killed itself (circa 2006)….and while we still forge ahead into watching the Dow play mind games – we can examine Lala Vasquez’s sense of style just for a moment.  MTV’s former VJ was spotted across the West Coast rocking steadily in a pair of Alexander McQueen Leather Sandals. You have to admit that these are interestingly provocative upon first glance….breaking way into a 4 3/4″ heel – I am still wondering who else aside from Rihanna & LaLa will be seen around town rocking these …

Trend Files #038 | Ripped Leggings: How Ripped Is Too Ripped? Trend Files #038 | Ripped Leggings: How Ripped Is Too Ripped?

It’s “Hump Day” and with that in mind….I’m reminded that summer has yet to finally hit NYC on a consistent note. It’s to the point where, I don’t even think about putting down spear change on summer gear, because I don’t know when summer will finally show it’s true colors. Although I have to keep in mind that summer doesn’t officially arrive until the next week or so – I’ll sit back and take a closer look at my girl Lady Gaga. Who was spotted greeting her fans in Japan, sporting super ripped leggings. Now I am all for the leggings trend. Even when forecasters throw up their hands and submit to the trend….now we can look forward to super ripped lycra pants. As you know I’m a complete sucker “stretchy pants”….but I am some what stuck on the idea of wearing fully ripped leggings. I think the fear of …

Trend Files #037 | Rappers Protocol: T-Pain’s Big Ass Chain Trend Files #037 | Rappers Protocol: T-Pain’s Big Ass Chain

BLACK FOLK! Yeah, I am saying it! Only black folk! Now some would say “Tee, T-Pain’s purchase is no different from millionaires who spend hundreds of thousands jewelry”. True indeed…but I think it’s really about the process of how it’s done that doesn’t make it such a topic of debate. So when I got word of T-Pain’s recent fashion accessory – I really thought that my friends were joking. I’ll be the first to say that Hip-Hop music & the figures in it have been a complete turn off (to me) for the past few years. A modern menstrual show…and yes…I said it! If it’s not tricked out gold teeth, big gaudy chains, and the same old booty clapping oiled up rear ends that are plastered across the screen – no one finds interest in the gimmick. Mr. Autotunes aka T-Pain, proud fully featured his $410,000 piece …

Trend Files #037 | Je M’aime Jewelry Collection Trend Files #037 | Je M’aime Jewelry Collection

I have a weakness for accessories….and it’s so serious that my jewelry box has overflowed itself across my dressing table. So when my girl Nire hit me up about Je M’aime jewelry…my eyes blinked heavily with delight. Je M’aime is a new jewelry line based straight out of NYC. Bringing a refreshing perspective to contemporary accessories, the Je M’aime collection offers a bold presence to the naked eye. Toying with the idea of masculinity & femininity, Je M’aime explores the interaction of rawness and refinement. The debut collection consists of five, two, & three finger rings made out of 24kt vermeil. I’m definitely loving the collection thus far, and it’s all up for grabs now via Jemaimenyc.com – Check out more of the highlights after the jump!

Trend Files #036 | A Closer Look At Black Comme des Garçons Trend Files #036 | A Closer Look At Black Comme des Garçons

There is no denying the Rei Kawakubo is a pioneer of fashion. Breaking the boundaries of what we would like to call fashion, she has managed to shut down her nay sayers…and keep her house name in tact for decades. While managing to shut down H&M stores in 2008 with her collaboration with the Swedish clothing giant, Rei also can add her works with Louis Vuitton to her portfolio. Let’s fast forward into 2009, where the Comme des Garçons brand will go into the “black”….Black Come des Garçons that is. The new line is said to be distinctive, stylish, and affordable. The Black Comme des Garçons concept store (which is said to open sometime this month) , will be launching in Japan’s Anoyama neighborhood. And will be open for approximately two months. Folks have been wondering what to expect from the Black Comme des Garçons brand….and I will tell …
