Trend File # 006 | Suspenders: Makes The Denim Go Round! Trend File # 006 | Suspenders: Makes The Denim Go Round!

Ahhh…the spring time! Isn’t it lovely? And while NYC has yet to fully warm up, everyone including myself has been scrambling around to prepare their taxes (which I still have yet to do). And while receipts are stacked up on my desk, so are the magazines purchased from my local newsstand. It’s evident that great fashion minds think alike…thus creating that flurry of clone like styles throughout the streets of your city. But there is an old time trend that is making it’s annual comeback this spring…thanks to one of my favorite accessories…the suspender! Now if you are thinking that suspenders are just not for you, then you may want to rethink it….just for a moment! I can tell you that I only own three pairs of suspenders, two of which I found at a local swap shop for only $1 a piece. And the third recent pair cost me …

Trend File # 005 | Destroyed Denim: Is It Really Worth The Splurge? Trend File # 005 | Destroyed Denim: Is It Really Worth The Splurge?

Like any tabloid reading junkie, I must confess that I stand in the aisle of my local Duane Reade drug store flipping through magazines only to scratch my head in the end. Wondering why some folks actually feel the need to pay high prices for ripped/destroyed styled denim. Whether it be shorts, skirts, or regular length jeans – it all comes down to one main thing! Ok, so it’s not a secret that human hair has literally walked off of scalps and directly onto the runways. It’s to the point where you really have to wonder what is next on the fashion forefront. But to be quite honest, the use of human hair spun into garments & hair accessories is no real trend. In fact, the latest hair raising trends, and playful accessories such as the human hair bow-tie clip (as seen on Lady Gaga) – has been a technique done by many world renowned African-American hair stylist. Funny enough, trend forecasters laughed at the notion – only to welcome it with open arms thanks to the help of Maison Martin Margiela, Alexis Mabille, and a list of other designers. Either way I’ve always been fascinated with the play-by-play technique of human hair spun garments and accessories. I only have yet to see who actually has …

So the web has been buzzing around since last year about the latest collaboration with designer extraordinaire Matthew Williamson. With an unbelievably powerful collaboration with Comme des Garçons in 2008, Williamson has been creating a major stir – cultivating a collection of very high-end styled looks for H&M enthusiasts to obsess over. But there should be a lot of questions to be asked! The highlight of the entire collection comes in the form of a rainbow hued sequin dress, which has already been seen on a select number of celebrities such as Ginnifer Goodwin. The dress will run you $249….that is a lot considering it’s coming from H&M! I am already wondering if the lines will be off the hook come the 23rd? Or will shoppers wait until everything hits the clearance racks?
Before you hit the pause break on the collection as a whole. Please be advised that there …
