Before I continue on…I know that my post have been LAX for a hot spell! And that is because there is a lot of family issues going on behind the scene, so please forgive me! Hopefully, everything will mellow out in due time. (Sigh)….Alright so let’s get into today’s posts shall we? For starters…if you know me well you know that I am an avid fan of HBO’s hit television series True Blood. So much so that I literally put my blackberry on vibrate, close my doors, and shut off the outside world to get in tune for those cool 55 minutes of pure action. Since last summer, I would hear the endless buzz behind the True Blood. And at first I thought “Oh gosh, yet another vampire show!” – and it took an entire weekend to scroll through episode after episode just to fall victim to the Louisiana based television series. Bill (played by Stephen Moyer) has been a hot fantasy last year….and now I day dream about the 1,000 year old vampire Eric (played by Alexander Skarsgard) who I think looks totally hot. Especially after that much needed haircut…I spend at least an hour a day googling just to see if sneak previews are available online. Now that season two is in full swing the excitement has kicked in on over drive. And if you’ve had the chance of viewing last weeks episode…then you know that I am ready to see what is about to go down this Sunday. The entire concept behind True Blood comes thanks in part to a fictional synthetic blood drink, savored by the likes of Bill and many vampires in Bon Temps. Now the fictional drink has become reality. I’ve always had a thing for denim vests. I mean…it was the hottest thing since “sour power” candy back in the day. And still has managed to become one of those iconic staple pieces….well at least I like to think so. Yeah, we know that fashion is all based on sheer opinion…recycled trends…which can make for a boring combination if you stand around long enough to think about it. But let’s be real…the recession has everyone (including me) making due with what we already have set in our closets. Ah…no more bragging about what you’ve copped during the spur of the moment rage of spending! Who cares if your bag costs over $3,000….and who could give a damn about the next hottest trend….right? WRONG! Realistically, you can do so much even when the Dow Jones continues to kick everyone in the ass. Think “REUSABLE” always…that’s why I think everyone should be denim IN-VESTED! The thing that I love most about denim vests, is that it has to potential of making your ensemble stand out. Hey Ladies, I’ve been missing in action due to a very important behind the scenes project that I have been working on all week, hopefully it will be fully completed within the next few hours. Until then, I have a list of “Trend Filing” to catch up on. One in particular comes in the lovely form of the “Boyfriend Blazer” which has really been grabbing my attention a lot this summer. Despite the awkward temperatures that have been taking over the island of Manhattan, you wouldn’t believe how many women have been spotted working blazer jackets in the middle of the summer. And it’s just not for work attire either. Paired against cut off shorts, leggings, you name it – the boyfriend jacket has become a staple piece that might fight itself on everyone’s radar come Fall. So far, I’ve taken full view of muted hues that go perfectly with pretty much anything that you may have laying around in your closet space. So everyone is asking…what’s the big deal with the “Boyfriend Blazer”, well think about it like this….all you need is ONE serious blazer to keep your wardrobe running. Multi colored nails are definitely a go! Don’t ask me why…but I think that celebrities have plucked through the pages of Punky Brewster circa 1986, and have fast forwarded towards 2009 on a new spree of colorful ideas. Granted, there are those who snubbed the idea of neon hues, air brushed acrylic tips, and are now cooing over neatly cut and filed nails coated in thick coatings of their favorite shade of summer. Lauren Conrad has taken the month of July into her grasp, showing off glittering patriotic hues, along with mixing metallic with neutral color schemes. Conrad hasn’t been the only starlet to hit the scene with a colorful set – Queen Latifah has donned a black and white colorway during the BET awards. Rapper Eve mixed things up (last year) with a Minx manicure, and Solange has made various appearances with a tricked out set of ultra bright colorful set that will stop nail fanatics dead in their tracks. So basically yesterday I spent the entire day in front of the computer screen drawing a total blank. And if you follow me on Twitter you may understand why! But aside from the spur of the moment memory loss….and dazed & confused look on my face, I browsed through my various photo accounts only to take a close view at our girl Rihanna. I don’t know about you but I’ve realized that this season – notable women have found themselves itching to be buzzed cut. Could it be the humidity that has everyone ready to take off a piece of their locks? Or has euro trends finally found itself embedded in the skulls of our favorite celebrities. I’m saying….even Carmen Electra shaved both sides of her hair…(BTW isn’t she kind of old to be doing this?). Anyway, I am curious as to know if head shaving is the new black? Shoot, I’ve had my head shaved for the past how many years? Not to mention I’ve heard every negative response known to man, woman, & child. But as far as Rihanna goes….everyone is loving her new do – which I think is still unfinished if you asked me! Is Hollywood really taking this trend a little bit too far? Who else will be following in on this disaster of a trend….(because you know damn well this look isn’t for everyone)? I wonder if Rihanna has any idea that by next week her newly shaved cut has to be maintained? Let’s be real ladies….her recent hair stylist has been butchering her look over the last few months! Ahhhh yes, another Amber Rose moment! I am sorry this girl is addictive! From the short blonde Caesar haircut, highly glossed puckered lips, straight down to her imperfect toes – there is something about this girl that EVERYONE (including myself) would like to know more about. Last month, I spoke about Amber Rose inking a deal with Ford Models. A month later…the ink has dried (only for god knows how long) and Rose is in motion of representing one of the power heavy weights in the modeling game. So what do we actually know about Amber Rose? Good question…..other than being a former stripper (from alleged reports), being dubbed as a lesbian (yet again these are all from alleged reports), and already stapled a video vixen in addition to linking up with Kanye West (which is we’ve all seen for the past 6 months) what do we really know about Amber Rose? Ummm…nothing! Truth be told – I seldom watch TV so I can’t say that I’ve seen her in any music videos, nor do I read Smooth Magazine – thus leaving me in the dark about her semi nude spread. But I did so happen listen to Amber Rose on Sirius Radio’s Shade 45’s Lip Service – where the bi racial beauty gave us some insight on her sexual activities (which I really didn’t care much about). But is that all she is….a sex pot? Which leaves me wonder….will she or can she stand on her own merit at Ford Models? Let’s be clear….she is basically a dinosaur in the modeling food chain. At 26 years old…what other alternatives does she have other than print? Does her body fit the requirements for the runway? Can she really be the next Cover Girl ? I hope that you didn’t choke on your cup of java this morning like I did! Goodness, if I didn’t think that being a woman was hard enough, there are some people who appreciate the fact that Eve robbed us of our chance at peace and serenity here on earth. As though menstrual cramps, hot flashes mood swings, and our daily battle with pre menopausal spats didn’t drive us to Rikers Island – we can all look forward on showing the world that we love our “vagi patties” so much that we can also wear it on display for the world to see.
