What is there to say about all things metallic?  It’s everywhere of course! Whether it is seen on tanks, jackets, leggings, & skirts – trend forecasters and designers can’t seem to get enough.  It’s no big secret that metallic dresses are indeed show stoppers all by themselves, without being accompanied by accessories.  Out of all of the Fall 2010 RTW collection, Balmain has taken center stage on the trend – giving many of us potential red carpet looks that may be seen on celebrities for the upcoming future. However, while many of us are not celebrities, so let’s adapt to the trend on a more modest note.

I’ve personally got my eyes fully in tune with this season’s trend in addition to my personal taste.  The Killah Metallic Print Jersey Mini Dress (now: $37.07) takes the cake, making room for minimal accessories and a pair of hot lace-up booties.  I’m also loving Ray Silver Foil’s Metallic Batwing Mini Dress (Price: $50) – a very good look for those super sleek body types. As the summer almost comes to a close, our mind is set on taking full advantage of this falls upcoming trends. We can all agree that many of our beloved trends tend to repeat their appearance throughout the year. Case & pure fact, camel hues are one of the many trends revised during the pre-spring & fall seasons. This timeless colorway has found itself perfectly matching against textured accessories, chunky knits, outerwear, boots, structured dresses, pants, and now denim.

There is a benefit & challenge of incorporating this classic hue into your wardrobe. The key is to keep your potential camel-clad ensemble(s) fresh & refined – without going too overboard.  Michael Kors give NYFW onlookers his take on the camel trend last February, by mixing seductive camel hued knits against matching colored slouchy boots.  The colorway followed suit by showing its full potential on outerwear & blazers.  We’ve sat down and scanned the web heavily for some of this fall’s best camel-clad pieces (of all price ranges), so be sure to check out our checklist after the jump!

The fall has to be one of those seasons, where you can put darker hues to good use. Whether it is on the fashion forefront or of the beauty scene – darker colors make their mark! If you can recall, this past spring the theme was to follow in bold neutral hues. Taupe hues reigned supreme continuing on into the summer. This fall we can expect to see a series of rich colorways such as grey, purple, & deep reds to take the scene over. So let’s focus on one of my (personal) favorite colors – grey! This fall grey nail enamel has found itself on the runways of Rag & Bone, Catherine Malandrino, & Oscar De La Renta (just to name a few) Fall ’10 Collections.

Chanel worked the grey nail trend last year during the Spring 2010 runway show, now the trend has found itself back on the market. Instead of the past seasons purplish grey hues, this fall we’re going for the full gusto and that would be heather grey to deep grey hues. Gals if you’re looking to be tight on this trend, then you may want to consider hitting up your local American Apparel store where you can cop a bottle of their nail enamel in “mouse” (price: $6). Debroah Lippmann always receives rave reviews on their nail lacquer, so it came to no surprise when I fell in love with their grey colorway “Waking Up In Vegas” (price:$16).

Velvet has been somewhat a staple piece for the fall and winter season. In the last three years, many of us have seen the endless possibilities of where velvet can incorporate itself in our wardrobes. Velvet has such a rich texture all by itself, many stylists and fashion goers have been on-trend, by missing basic pieces against this silk textile. This fall designers have used vivid color palettes such as blue (seen above from the Charlotte Ronson Fall RTW collection), to help kick start the upcoming season. You’re probably wondering how you can work velvet into your future autumn looks – right? I (personally) think that the look of velvet should be used sparingly to create a cohesive outfit. Tuxedo jackets are always worked on various body-types, whether it be for a daytime or nighttime looks. D&G has one of this season’s best tuxedo jackets (price: $1,095) currently available via net-a-porter. If your fall budget is tight, one of the best recessionista suggestions is to hit your local thriftshops. Scan through the mens section for tailored velvet blazers they always work – especially for a fraction of the price.

Lately the look of oxfords has been a highlighted topic of discussion, so why not mix two trends in one? Don’t let your denims go without a pair of Pleaser’s Peep Tie Velvet Oxford Pumps (Price: $59.95). Handbags have also followed in line with the velvet trend. Alexander Wang, Christian Louboutin, Prada (just to name a few) has all taken the look of velvet to newer heights for this fall with their collection of velvet-clad handbags. The season has finally arrived, where we are almost ready to pack away our minimalistic summer garbs – and where we break out our favorite autumn pieces. Women have checked off on their autumn must buys, and I have been eagerly awaiting the “just ins” on this seasons military looks. I am definitely a fan of the army green persuasion! Give me a utility jacket, some boyfriend jeans, basic heather gray t-shirt, and some oxfords and I am ready to go. And while I still embody my tomboyish set, I‘ll gladly marvel at some of the super feminine military looks that many designers have made possible. When the term “military” comes into play with fashion – naturally we tend to automatically think about the structured look of it all. Be advised that designers have stepped out of bounds to make the trend work well with pretty much anything that your closet space has to offer.

I have already found some cool “military-style” picks that have worked itself into my fall 2010 list, such as the Nine West Donley boot (Price: $129). Lace up booties are the rage for this coming fall, so I totally figured that it would make sense to start combining many of the most talked about trends into one purchase after another. And this boot definitely takes the cake, considering that (a) this boot takes on the structured military motif, (b) camel is one of the many colors to keep watch of for the fall, lastly (c) I would have the advantage of making this bootie work with pairing either a skirt, pair of jeans, or dress if possible.

What is there to say about military-clad jackets? We all love them! And I personally have a serious obsession with contrast hardware, shouldered epaulets (usually found on a variety of military jackets), and those multi functional pockets. I don’t know about you, but I have been really tight with purchases as of late. Whether it is on shoes, accessories, & ready-to-wear items, my budget has been set at a maximum limit. The era of senseless spending has been put on hold for many, but that hasn’t stopped women from following the latest trends. This summer was all about going back to the basics. White on white hues kept summer looks fresh and clean, leaving much needed room for statement accessories. Neutral color ways kept the summertime jolt away. Global (better known as tribal print) has swept the scene gracefully, which has been a staple look spotted on many celebrity figures. Shirtdresses have popped up on the scene for the über casual city slicker, and the list goes on. We’ve scanned the web and found some of the best summer dress $20 & under.
