Oh yeah, if you haven’t heard the news already NYC hipster/model Erin Wasson will be showing at New York Fashion Week come next month. And while I anticipate my move to the sticks…I’ll gladly leave NYC knowing that I am really not leaving much! Seriously…born and raised New Yorkers are packing up and hot tailing it, while city-slicker newbies bask in the glory of all things falsified! And really…Erin Wasson showing her spring 2010 RVCA collection during fashion week reminds me of nails scratching away at a blank chalkboard if you ask me. Adding insult to injury, Wasson will be showing directly at the Bryant Park tents. Forget about celebrity stalking during the Herve Leger, BCBG, DVF, along with the other big names set to wreak havoc in September. Be ready for hipster snobbery at it’s best! Ok, so your probably wondering why I am unleashing my beast on Wasson…right? Well not to long ago….a year ago exactly Erin felt the need to show us how much she really loves the homeless. So much so, that I damn near screamed at my laptop screen. Alright here is the flash back quote via Nylon TV:

(Blank stare) What can you look forward to at the Erin Wasson show during fashion week? Only god himself knows. But I am quite sure that you will hear nothing but the screeching sounds of “Like…Oh my god” or better yet….”Oh my god those are so dirty its so good”. Then again can we look forward to Wasson’s contrived eye for all things ripped off? According to THE CUT, Wasson has chosen to set her mack down in the middle of Midtown setting her prime time hour of 8p.m. to debut her upcoming spring collection. 1,100 seats will be ready for potential on lookers. Either way you flip the bird, your girl isn’t the least bit impressed with the collection from last year, and I’m quite sure I wont be impressed with anything mocked up for next years collection. It’s the kind of gear you see on the dust ridden floors of your local good will. Cheap, used, and nothing to go crazy over! Oh did I forget to mention …..it’s way too over priced?

Funny enough, I’ve been talking to my some of my closest readers behind the scenes….stating that perhaps I should focus on some of the more affordable options out on the market. But I can’t front…my obsession lies with luxury brands. It’s my materialistic nature I guess…or my love/hate relationship with fashion that has me at odds the majority of the time. And you already know that my self professed love for Chanel runs deeper than varicose veins. Even still….I’m always jocking the Chanel scene….it’s my addiction. Sometimes I still kick myself for selling my Chanel bags via ebay. But when you are young, dumb, and thirsty for the next hottest “IT” thing – you don’t think about what you have until you give it away….right? Exactly! Anyway, the season is arriving upon us….Fashion Week in NYC is right around the corner – which means handbags will be fully on deck! And believe it or not 75% of the handbags I’ve spotted during the Fashion Week festivities come in the form of 2.55 quilted bags, or don a shiny silver “Double C” logo on it. So check out what accessories Chanel has on stash for the would be shopper.

It’s evident that the underground streetwear brands are making their way into the mainstream sector. The ladies of DimePieces headed to NYC to shoot their A/w 2009 lookbook which features R&B singer Cassie. This seasons collection is appropriately titled Electro Love which so happens to be the title of Cassie’s upcoming album. What do you ladies think about some of the looks….are we loving it? Oh brother…..I hope that you ladies are having a fabulous Tuesday afternoon! Alright so I’ve been busy (yet again), which has been leaving me dragging my feet at doing my work. And I’ve got too much to talk about….way too much, but I really don’t know where to start. Alright, that’s a bold face lie…let’s start off with our favorite intern Kanye West. I don’t know if you guys know that Kanye is back to his dreams of being a fashion designer. According to The Chicago Tribune, West has been interning at the Gap offices this summer. Working side by side with friend/creative director Patrick Robinson – West has been burning the midnight oil at the Gap headquarters. Rumored reports say that Kanye is looking forward to launching a clothing line with the Gap, and while it’s not yet confirmed we can only imagine what our khaki pants, and button downs will look like in the near future. Will us ladies have mass produced outfits spun out of spandex reminiscent of Yeezy’s girlfriend Amber Rose? I hope not! But what really bothers me most about celebrity clad collaborations is the mere fact that this is creating a saturation of “spur of the moment” trends. Thus leaving me to believe that this helps widen the dark abyss of what we call fashion at the prior moment.  Mass celebrity marketing…and 15 minute appeal has butchered the fashion food chain for the past few years. While current fashion students bite at the ankles of fashion houses trying to get their feet wet….celebrities such as Kanye can willfully walk right in without a care in the world. What will this do to potential internships in the near future? Will post-grads have a shot at being hired to furnish their talent & skill or will they have to make a name for themselves before actually getting a chance to show off their potential?  This is a question that needs some answering. Ladies what do you think about Kayne’s current venture with the Gap? Do we love it? Or should Kanye sit his ass down and give someone else who really as talent a fair shot?

Before I continue on…I know that my post have been LAX for a hot spell! And that is because there is a lot of family issues going on behind the scene, so please forgive me! Hopefully, everything will mellow out in due time. (Sigh)….Alright so let’s get into today’s posts shall we? For starters…if you know me well you know that I am an avid fan of HBO’s hit television series True Blood. So much so that I literally put my blackberry on vibrate, close my doors, and shut off the outside world to get in tune for those cool 55 minutes of pure action. Since last summer, I would hear the endless buzz behind the True Blood. And at first I thought “Oh gosh, yet another vampire show!” – and it took an entire weekend to scroll through episode after episode just to fall victim to the Louisiana based television series. Bill (played by Stephen Moyer) has been a hot fantasy last year….and now I day dream about the 1,000 year old vampire Eric (played by Alexander Skarsgard) who I think looks totally hot. Especially after that much needed haircut…I spend at least an hour a day googling just to see if sneak previews are available online. Now that season two is in full swing the excitement has kicked in on over drive. And if you’ve had the chance of viewing last weeks episode…then you know that I am ready to see what is about to go down this Sunday. The entire concept behind True Blood comes thanks in part to a fictional synthetic blood drink, savored by the likes of Bill and many vampires in Bon Temps. Now the fictional drink has become reality. You gals already know how much I adore Rachel Roy….so much so that I get flash backs of finally meeting one of my designing idols up close and personal. Such a lovely lady…let tell you! Anyway! It seems as though our favorite NYC -based designer has been globetrotting recently. Making stops in London, soaking up inspiration from every where she goes. Roy posted on twitter (last Tuesday):
“I’m excited to be working with @EstelleDarlings on a jewelry collection, which will debut in Spring 2010. –RR “
And who can resist Estelle’s clean-cut sense of style? Totally adore her! In addition to many up coming events and projects – Roy is prepping herself to the fullest degree. Especially with the nation wide launch of Rachel – Rachel Roy for Macys Department Stores slated for the next upcoming weeks, Roy already has her eyes set on opening a Pop-Up store in Soho (111 Spring Street) for a limited time started on September 10th. Which is perfect considering New York Fashion Week kicks off the same week. According to WWD, the 1,800 square foot space will contain the entire collection of Rachel Rachel Roy merchandise. Footwear, contemporary sportswear, dresses, handbags, & jewelry will be open to the public for purchase. The space is said to stay open for a maximum of 10 or until all merchandise is sold out. I know I am like a day late on this…..and while everyone seems to be at a high road with Lily Allen being the new face of Chanel’s A/W ‘09 campaign ads…I’m still wondering why did Unkie Karl really have to go with Lily? For some reason I feel that this was a last call shoot. Or better yet, the Karlster needs a better staff to help shoot him some interesting names of folks who make rock things the right now. (Clearing throat)…perhaps we could use some Estelle, Zoe Kravitz, dang I’ll even take a quick glance at Lady Gaga right now. I’m saying…I loved me some Lily (circa 2006), but it’s like now her presence (like so many celebrities) lately is so irrelevant. Shoot sometimes I wonder why I even bother to pay attention to them (celebrities) in the first place. Then again I’d be out of a job…ha! But seriously…can we get on the topic of Lily Allen. What makes her that special to be featured on this autumn’s campaign? Black and white photos embodying the whole ‘Breakfast At Tiffany” motif seems a tad bit played. Especially for such a sporty looking collection of arm candy….do you really think that Lily set the scene? Perhaps she’d fit better in modeling off more of Fall-Winter’s 09/10 – Pre Collection of sinfully luscious bags instead of the Coco Cocoon collection….don’t you think? Ahhhh…but what do I know? For goodness sakes, Lily is always spotted at Chanel runway shows. She rocks the latest Chanel handbags…and it’s very obvious that is he a die-hard Chanel follower like the rest of us. You already know that I’m way too busy swooning over the Coco Cocoon bag more over than Allen. Her Karl-esque stance in the photos really does nothing to heighten my appeal for the campaign….but the bags are pretty cool! Reversible….and practical (for everyday use…but not in price) the Coco Cocoon collection is slated to hit perfectly dusted Chanel glass shelving coming October. Alright….so I am ready to ask Unkie Karl to spice things up and let Lil’ Kim run next springs campaign…that might really make heads pop and roll! More views after the jump!
