I think that one thing that we can all agree upon in regards to fashion is the fast paced seasonal push that we’re all forced to settle with. While winter has set to truly set in, everyone has forgotten about the first snow flake – and have already gone full swing into the Spring. I on the other hand will take my time to ease myself into the warmer months ahead. With that said, lately I’ve been really coming to grips with the fact that my sense of style has been changing. I’m not into rocking open-toe pumps with stockings when the weather isn’t even appropriate for that kind of set up. Nor am I into baring skin past the month of September, when the constant worry of being ashy along with being out of season soon begins to set in. These are one of the reasons why I loath the winter months. Through it all, one of my favorite trends for the A/W 2009 season has to be the buckle boot. I guess we all say “kudos” to Alexander Wang & Balmain for creating a series of boots that have literally sent shoppers straight to the bank. And who ever said that skinny jeans were a ridiculous trend to begin with should’ve been slapped. Simply because, boots (of all styles) have a new companion! Let’s totally ignore, the bulging pant leg epidemic now seen with the boyfriend jean trend. Anyway, so back to the buckled boot madness that bites at my brain. Think platform or tread soles, a combination of both into a delectable series of designs & styles made for the urban woman. You know that the city streets have no mercy on our feet. So keep in mind that then diving head first into this trend you find a shoe that will fully support your lifestyle. And let’s be real-pain is beauty! Well isn’t that way they say? Which usually means women will sacrifice themselves at all costs. Phillip Lim is definitely carrying the buckle boot into the spring of 2010 on a lighter note. Giving booties a run for the money, by softening down the trend from the winter chill. Surprisingly, there are very well executed mock-up’s of our favorite luxury brands at a fraction of the cost. While many of us still may have to fork over a few hundred dollars to achieve this seasons look – we can all smile in sync with knowing we didn’t break our banks or budget. Check out some of my buckled picks after the jump!

I can’t tell you the last time I went out and got dressed up. Come on what work-a-holic do you know of takes time to have fun? Exactly…that’s my point! But I’ve got a new resolution to kick off 2010 – and with that in mind, I’ve decided to start looking for a “night out on the town” dress. Your girl is ready to shake loose, and get things jumping for the New Year. I’ve already got my eyes steadily pressed for the Brian Lichtenberg Padded One Shoulder dress that comes in four sexy styles. The only question is; which dress should I choose that will work well with my crazy curves? And while I take time to figure out which dress will rock my world, here is your shot to win a $150 giftcard courtesy of Karmaloop. Remember everyone is a winner, each entrant will receive a $10 giftcard just for entering. It’s about that time to start….click, click, clicking your way to Karmaloop.com

I’m sure most of you who are avid fans of Alexa Chung have faithfully tuned into her show – “It’s On with Alexa Chung” for the past two seasons. But MTV has decided to pull the plug on her show. And some of us can’t understand why. Bad enough television is plagued with a series of back to back reality shows. We’re wondering if Viacom will cut the madness and get back to reality on hosting more interesting talk shows without the abominable stereotypical plotlines. Through it all, Alexa Chung has managed to give television viewers a look at her downtown vibe. What I love the most about Alexa Chung’s sense of style, is that fact that she isn’t afraid of wearing the same thing twice. Whether it be a pair of chunky boots, handbag, or T-shirt – you can guarantee that she’ll smile for the paparazzi while doing the fashionable double take. Remember that “It’s On with Alexa Chung” will air its final show come this Thursday. But for the mean time – check out some of my favorite picks as an ode to the fashion savvy Chung. More after the jump!

Yeah, I know if you have been running around NYC in the past 72 hours – you’d know that it has been ba-ba-ba-BRICK! Chilled straight to the bones. But that doesn’t stop would-be trendsetters from showing major face, despite what Mother Nature has to offer. I so wish that I could push back the hands of time (to the month of June), where the temperature was just right. So yeah, then I woke up to realize that it is indeed December. Not only do I have to wait another three months for the Spring to come back into town, but I’m still hovering around the idea of copping a pair of lace leggings. I think what turned me off about this trend (initially) was that women were bearing a little bit too much of their assets to the general public. Plus I’ve got legs thicker than a stake of pancakes, so I automatically shun the idea of even stepping foot out on the streets of NYC in a pair. And I brushed off what the trend forecasters had to say about lace leggings back in 2007, especially when Alexander McQueen debuted them in his collection. Still folks were at a full stand still, worrying if they’d look like something out an 80’s heavy metal video. Through it all, the lacy accessory has found itself in the spindle of the retail food chain. Priced from a mere $10 – up to a staggering price point of $200 & up! So you’re probably throwing me the major side eye at the prior moment…right? Well don’t! Let’s bask in the glory of online sales. It doesn’t hurt to take a looky-look! Besides you can always keep a pair of stash for a fabulous night out on the town or better yet for next spring. So take a look at my stylish laced legging picks after the jump!

If there is anything I hate more, is the winter! Not only do I NOT want to go out and go shopping. But I am far from fashionably appealing during the cold three months that hover over the NYC tri-state area. So what is my favorite past time to kill the daily chill? Online window shopping of course! It’s like the next best thing to actual window shopping…minus the crowds of people standing in your way. Any how, I’ve been in complete awe thanks in part to BCBG’s Mendel bootie. These shoes have been on my mind for the past 48 hours (and going). The only problem is, that these bad boys are SOLD OUT! UGH…yes…SOLD OUT! So what is a girl to do? Search for the next best thing. So check out my latest wedge bootie picks after the jump!

During this time of the year I usually scan through numerous stores to see what’s available on the sneak forefront. It can be hard considering the piling droves of holiday shoppers rummaging through current inventory at local shopping spots. Through it all I manage to maintain the best way possible. And while I’ve been rocking my favorite pair of Ugg boots since the winter kicked in, my sneakers have been sitting quietly in boxes untouched. Nothing has been added in months to my small collection. And that’s because I haven’t been the least bit motivated on copping a pair of kicks. I haven’t spotted anything that has jumped out at me. That was until today when scanning the web. My eyes opened up on a pair of kicks worthy of a try-on (at least). The latest Nike Womens Dunk High Skinny is tricked out in a gold sequin overlay reinforced into the heel which definitely brings on some feminine appeal. Gold & black hues cap out the entire look. So be sure to call your local Nike retailer for further information & availability.

Since last year the internet has been burning up with heated debates over a young (and now famous) 13 year old fashion blogger named Tavi Gevinson aka Style Rookie. She’s already sat front row at numerous NYFW runway shows. Mingled with the likes of Marc Jacobs & Chloe Sevginy (just to name a few). The Chicago native has also been featured in a series of notable fashion publications which even includes Teen Vogue. And now the teenie-blogger has jotted down her candid views on spring 2010 collections for the January issue of Harper’s Bazaar (which hits newsstands Tuesday). Now I don’t know about you….but I am a bid ambivalent on having a minor writing a column for Harper’s Bazaar. Honestly, what fashion advice could I really get from someone half my age…right? Exactly!
Despite what I may feel, others feel the total opposite and welcome the idea of having Tavi on the scene. Let’s face it – children seldom lie. Especially, when it comes to looks & outer appearance. Maybe that is what the industry is looking for at the prior moment! I mean (really), who needs one more “yes man” on deck? Honesty is key, and Tavi shares her honest opinion on fashion while putting it on full frontal display for the world to see. Her style is reminiscent of Susie Bubble (from Style Bubble), with a mix of teenage sass. Which brings on the onslaught of random thoughts in regards to Bazaar hiring the young fashion blogger for a column. Has the recession caused notable publications scrambling for ideas on a serious note? Or is young Tavi really that good of a blogger? I’m quite sure that it has to be a combination of the two. But, I’m still convinced that there is more behind this cute face. I can’t quite call it as of yet! Either way, the industry stamped “child genius” has been clicking her platform heels into the realm of stardom. But wait….did I forget to mention that she is indeed under the legal drinking age? Maybe that’s the problem! It’s the “age factor” that might be sending some fashion bloggers & enthusiasts digging into their keyboards. I’m telling you, there is something in those prenatal pills that are giving way to a new breed of fashion connoisseurs. And from the looks of it, Tavi is here to stay…..unless her ghost writer comes out of the woodworks.
