Ahhh…don’t you just love the holidays? I know that I do! For the simple fact being, I spend the majority of my days online hunting around for great bargains. Even if its not on sale all of the time. Funny enough, it was on Monday where I ran around town looking for a new pair of Timberland boots. I don’t know what it is about the brand, but it seems to be the necessary item to have in your closet while living in the city. Everyone including children are spotted around town in a fresh crisp pair of nubuck construction-styled boots. And if there was one thing that personally bothered me more than ever, was to see a pair of Timberland boots water drenched, scuffed and distressed at the point of no return. So it’s definitely a surprise to see that Colette teamed up with Timberland to create what could have been more of an appropriate style of boot. I mean this is just my opinion. I’m not sure of what irks me more….the $354 dollar price point or the “broken in” toe featured on these exclusives. Alright, so if you’ve been following me for the past four years on this internet journey; you’d know that I am in complete awe when it comes to Moncler outerwear. And the obsession has gotten progressively worse; especially for 2009. Given the current economic state of it all, I’ve really been on my “A-Game” in regards of what to buy and what not to buy. Trends come and go, but some there are just habits that are hard to break. And my habit would be scanning through the collections of Moncler coats every chance I get. This season’s collection (in my book) is phenomenal! I’ve never thought that the Moncler Gamme Rouge was up my alley as far as fashion about outerwear goes, but they’ve got the luxury looks down to a thread. Think Pantone like colorways….think practical styles for that “around the way girl”. For months the web has been swirling around the Rykiel pour H&M Lingerie Collection. And now that the time draws near for its release this Saturday at local H&M stores, over 2,000 guests partied with Rykiel and numerous celebrities at the Grand Palais on Monday night. In addition to celebrating the Rykiel & H&M lingerie collaboration, spectators had a first glimpse of the knitwear collection (available for women and girls) which is slated for February 2010 release. I had a chance to scan through the 68-piece lingerie collection, and I must say that there are some cute items on hand. However, there were a few satin pieces in the collection which reminded me of old school girdles. Either way, I’m sure H&M fanatics will be forking over some cash once the collection drops this weekend. The price points for the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M Lingerie Collection are moderately priced. Damn, it has been a hot minute since I’ve even fully looked at a pair of kicks. I’ll admit that my hindsight on fashion has been on freeze mode since September. Thanks to some vitamins, coffee, and some chain smoking, I think that I’ve gotten everything full covered on my end. Anyways….Married To The Mob has been really working hard. Even through this busted economic state, the crew has morphed themselves into a brand that really has a serious cult following. With past collaborations with Nike & Reebok; MTTM has recently teamed up with Lacoste to bring fourth a new sneaker perfectly made for the ultimate girlie-girl who has champagne taste & working girl class money. The Lacoste Hironia model has been given a face-lift courtesy of the NYC-based company. Donning two metallic colorway of gold & purple each sneaker has been tricked out in black lace, and a Christian Louboutin-eque red sole. It’s a very interesting look for 2010. According to various streetwear outlets, the MTTM x Lacoste Hironia sneaker was slated to be released for this month, but has been pushed back for February 2010 release. Starting off….a few weeks late…but never too soon – lets focus on CLOGS for a moment! There has been so much negative feedback on the trend, you can’t help but to wonder why. It could be a generational gap, or perhaps it could be the selected styles given to the general public. Either way, Crocs shouldn’t be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about clogs – at all! Unkie Karl tried to give us his roll in the haystack last month, as he debuted Chanel’s S/S 2010 collection. I can’t fully say that the collection (as a whole) rocked my socks. Chanel’s latest installment of clogs really led me to believe that Karl Lagerfeld, may want to retire and make way for the next protégé to hit the scene. The Chanel S/S 2010 clog selection reminded me of some of the basic styles seen a few years back. The only difference is that; jeweled embellishments are fully attached to suede exteriors. Floral pieces can be spotted a mile away- reminiscent of something you might see in an old school Cleopatra Jones flick. Instantaneously, leaving the fashion community in limbo about the entire trend. Some readers (from various blogs) stated that clogs are just too chunky for every day wear. I guess it all depends on who you ask. Shit, it’s already the winter time and the selection open back clogs will have to wait. So let’s focus on the clogged styles that are worth of some attention. An NO we’re not talking about Dansko clogs- either. Let’s focus on fashionable pieces such as We Who See’s Shearling Clog Boot. Or how about Acne’s Clog Lace-Up Boot? Am I the only one who is an advocate for the wooden heeled splendor? How do you ladies feel about the clogs in general? Would you rock a pair of clogs?
