A Working Table
What a ranked trend entry actually looks like.
This is the working-table view researchers live in. Each row is a single trend — its rank, name, the category it lives in, its Trend Velocity Score (velocity × virality × longevity), how long it's been climbing, and the signal sources behind the call.
Velocity
How fast it's accelerating across indexed signals this week, on a 0–100 curve.
Virality
Cross-platform spread — how many of the six indexed surfaces the trend has touched.
Longevity
Time-on-chart before decay — a proxy for whether the trend survives its own hype cycle.

Editor's Note
How the index actually gets built.
There is no crystal ball in the Trenddoll newsroom. There are 18 trend scouts across nine time zones, four data engineers, and a shared rule: every trend on the index has to earn its row twice — once by the signals, once by a human editor who can explain why it's climbing.
Each week we index 1.2M+ trend signals across TikTok, Instagram, X, Reddit, Pinterest, and Spotify — the six surfaces we read in-house, not through an official pipe. Those signals get scored on three axes: velocity (how fast it's accelerating), virality (how many of those six surfaces it's touched), and longevity (how long it survives its own hype cycle). The composite number is the Trend Velocity Score you see in every table.
The score is the floor, not the ceiling. A trend with a sky-high velocity and zero editorial context gets held for a second pass — the scouts have to file a one-line read on why it's moving and whether it has legs. That's why the index refreshes every six hours instead of overnight, and why the list still looks different at noon than it did at 6 a.m. There is no batched, once-a-day trend report here. The desk is awake in shifts because the culture isn't.
